Check out our 2013 Schedule !

A few things..

After a very long winter here at Ball and Skein. we are very happy to say that our winder orders caught up and we are back to our normal two week lead time!!

Just in time for the Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival, we received a new order of Modular spindles feom Ken Ledbetter.  All of the spindles, including the mini and midi sizes will now come with three shafts and the option to order more if you wish.

A shout out to the folks that came by our booth in Pittsburgh.  This is a relatively new show, and growing.  Nearly 3000 fiber lovers came through the registration table this year!!!   Way to go!  Thanks to the folks that make this festival happen. We had a great time!

Beach Buttons..  We made several trips to the beach last fall and late winter gathering materials for our stone Beach Buttons.  No two alike, these are natural beach stone buttons, made by Mother Nature, polished by Father Neptune, and made into buttons here in the shop.

Lillian Fay  has a new sister!

Check out Fanny Fouche  by the very talented Ellen Mason.  Both sweaters will be at all the spring shows.  Fanny Fouche is knit from our Providence (lt. worsted / dk).

Lillian Fay is knit in Breckenridge, an aran wt. yarn making this a quick knit.

Some of the yarn bases you'll see at our Spring 2013 Shows..

  • Willoughby: a delicious dk in a merino cashmere silk blend.
  • Galifrey: a great new fingering wt, merino nylon blend with a tough of sparkle.
  • Aran wt. Breckenridge  (it premiered with the pattern Lillian Fay)
  • Mansfield: a soft merino with just the right amount of springyness in a 4 ply worsted wt.
  • Providence, a lt. worsted with lots of bounce.
  • Lyra, a new single in a dk wt. , Ariane, a 2 ply, heavenly soft lace wt. and Aurora, in a luscious fingering wt. are three new alpaca / silk blends.
  • Sierra Sock, a plump 3 ply wool / nylon blend. Knits up on a 1-3 US needle.
  • Glissade.. oh my!   also a silk / merino blend in a 4 ply fingering.

Our Electric Skein Winders (this includes the Multi-Skeiner) have been updated to now include shaped yarn pegs.  These keep your skeins separated while winding, no more crossovers.

The Yarn Pegs are also available separately if you wish to upgrade an older model.

The Crank Winder now comes in two sizes;  a single and a triple skein winder.  Just check the drop down box on the Crank Winder page.
